Today, JUMP is a partnership managed by a volunteer Board of Directors from consulting engineering firms, in cooperation with NYSDOT and, now, City Tech as our training arm. Every camp has his own day or morning program and a lot of activities will be done together. ![]() JUMP was started in 1968 by engineers and architects as a way of providing career opportunities for meaningful employment to disadvantaged youth. City Tech has several laboratory facilities of relevance to JUMP training, has coordinated NICET testing for the last 15 years, and has extensive experience preparing disadvantaged youth for the demands of the workplace. Working with the JUMP Board, City Tech has updated the technical curriculum to ensure that it meets the requirements of consulting engineering firms that hold NYSDOT contracts. JUMPs affiliation with City Tech adds some significant dimensions to a program which, in its 33 year history, has already trained over 850 educationally and economically disadvantaged young men and women in the New York City metropolitan area.
